Overview

Mercedes-Benz Stadium opened in 2017 on the site of the former Georgia Dome in downtown Atlanta. Its signature feature is an eight-petal retractable roof that opens and closes like a camera aperture, inspired partly by the Pantheon in Rome. Hanging below the roof opening is the stadium’s other defining element: a 360-degree video display, known as the Halo Board, that wraps around the interior at roughly 58 feet tall. Most touring concerts use an end-stage setup, with the stage built into one end zone and the rest of the bowl and floor filled in behind it. Some shows go in-the-round instead, placing the stage at the center of the field to open sightlines from the full bowl. Either way, a protective floor deck goes down over the turf to support staging, audio towers, and floor seating, and section layouts can shift by event, so check your specific ticket rather than a generic chart.

Capacity

Standard capacity for Falcons games and most large events is 71,000, with room to expand to roughly 75,000 for marquee occasions using temporary seating. Concert capacity is less fixed: depending on how much of the floor goes to the stage versus seating and whether the show runs end-stage or in-the-round, attendance has ranged from around 50,000 up toward 80,000 for the largest field-heavy productions. Sound and Production

Large enclosed stadiums naturally produce some reverberation, and Mercedes-Benz Stadium uses sound-dampening material along the upper walls to help manage it, along with delay towers that touring productions typically bring in themselves.

The Halo Board supplements the main stage screens, giving fans farther from the stage a close-up view of the performance. The building’s rigging systems are built to support heavy touring lighting and stage sets.

Accessibility

Wheelchair-accessible seating and companion options are distributed across every bowl level and club deck. Elevators and escalators connect the main entry plazas to all concourses and club spaces. Public restrooms are accessible throughout, with single-occupancy, gender-neutral family restrooms available on the concourses. • Driving and parking: Several official decks and lots surround the stadium, including the Red Deck and Silver Deck. Reserve a pass online ahead of time, since drive-up spots are limited on event days.
• Rideshare: Drop-off and pickup points are set up along nearby streets, generally near Centennial Olympic Park Drive or Vine City.
