Overview

Moda Center opened in 1995 as the Rose Garden Arena, taking its current name in 2013 under a naming rights deal with Moda Health. It anchors Portland’s Rose Quarter entertainment district, next to Veterans Memorial Coliseum and just across the Willamette River from downtown. The arena’s sweeping roofline and concrete-and-glass exterior serve as home base for Trail Blazers basketball, along with major touring concerts, comedy, and family shows throughout the year.

Seating and Layout

• Floor (GA or reserved): The main arena floor, either standing general admission in front of the stage or assigned rows extending to the sound mixing board, depending on the tour.
• 100-Level (Lower Bowl): Wraps around the floor. Center sections, such as 101, 112, 113, and 122, offer balanced elevation and direct sound projection.
• 200-Level (Suites and Executive Club): Between the lower and upper bowls, with private lounges, padded seating, and elevated views.
• 300-Level (Upper Bowl): The upper tier. A steep seating angle keeps sightlines clear across the full production despite the elevation.

Most touring concerts use an end-stage setup, placing the stage at one end of the floor and curtaining off the rear sections behind it. Some shows go in-the-round instead, with the stage at the center of the floor opening up seating from all three levels. Floor configurations vary by performer, from standing-room general admission to numbered seating rows.

Capacity

Moda Center’s official capacity is 19,395 for NBA games. For full-capacity arena concerts, floor seating can expand total attendance up to 20,500, depending on stage size and how much of the floor goes to general admission.

Sound and Production

The arena uses an acoustic clouds ceiling system, a series of adjustable baffles suspended above the bowl, designed to absorb excess reflection and tune the room for live music. The roof structure supports substantial load capacities for touring rigs, including LED walls, lighting trusses, and suspended sound arrays.

Accessibility

Wheelchair-accessible seating platforms with companion chairs are available on every level. Accessible entry points include outdoor ramps, wide concourses, escalators, and elevators reaching all levels. Assistive listening devices and sensory kits are available at Guest Services on the main concourse. Parent rooms with changing tables and nursing amenities are located on the 100-Level concourse at entry A-7, and family restrooms are at A-22 and C-14. Accessible parking is available in the adjacent Garden Garage and Annex Garage.

Venue Policies

• Bags: Any bag up to 14″ x 14″ x 6″ is allowed, clear or not. Bags 4″ x 6″ or smaller get expedited entry with no extra screening; anything larger up to the max size goes through X-ray screening in a separate line. Hard-sided bags aren’t allowed, aside from pre-approved medical bags. There’s no general on-site bag check.
• Tickets: Digital entry only, scanned via smartphone.
• Payment: Fully cashless. Concession stands, bars, and merchandise take cards or mobile payment only.
• Cameras: Non-professional cameras without detachable lenses are fine as long as no flash is used. Professional photography, recording devices, tripods, tablets, and selfie sticks aren’t permitted.
• Outside food and drink: Not permitted, though parents may bring bottles, kids’ bags, and specific foods for children through the bag screening line.
• Other prohibited items: Laser pointers and weapons.

Getting There

• TriMet MAX Light Rail: The Red, Blue, and Green lines stop at the Rose Quarter Transit Center, right by the arena. The Yellow Line stops nearby at Convention Center station.
• Bus: Multiple local routes serve the immediate perimeter.
• Driving and parking: The arena is accessible via I-5, I-84, and the Broadway Bridge from downtown. Parking is available in the Garden Garage and West Garage, plus private lots throughout the Rose Quarter.
• Rideshare: Drop-off and pickup zones are set up along Broadway and Wheeler Avenue.

Plan to arrive 60 to 90 minutes before showtime to clear security, get through the concourse, and reach your section before the show starts.
